This calculator uses the Mifflin-St Jeor equation to estimate your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), then multiplies it by your activity level to get your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE).
To lose weight: eat 500 calories below your TDEE for ~1 lb/week loss. To gain weight: eat 500 calories above your TDEE.
