How to use the Sprite Splitter

Extract every sprite from a sprite sheet or texture atlas — automatically or by grid — and download them all as a ZIP.

  1. 1

    Upload your sprite sheet

Drop your PNG atlas on the canvas. Transparent PNGs work best for auto-detection.

  2. 2

    Detect or slice

Use Auto-detect to find sprites by their transparent gaps, or switch to Grid and set rows, columns, and spacing.

  3. 3

    Review the sprites

Detected sprites appear numbered on the sheet and as a thumbnail grid below. Adjust min size or merge gap if needed.

  4. 4

    Download

Click any sprite to download it as a PNG, or use Download All as ZIP to get every sprite at once.

Tips

  • •If auto-detect returns one giant sprite, your sheet has no transparency — use Grid mode instead.
  • •Increase the merge gap to join sprite fragments like sword + arm into one sprite.
  • •Sprites are exported as PNGs in reading order (top-to-bottom, left-to-right).

Frequently Asked Questions

How does automatic sprite detection work?

The tool scans the alpha channel of your sprite sheet and finds connected regions of non-transparent pixels. Each region becomes one sprite. Use the merge gap slider to join nearby fragments and the minimum size slider to filter noise.

My sprite sheet has no transparency. What do I do?

Use the Grid method instead. Set the number of rows and columns (or a fixed cell size), plus optional margin and spacing, and the tool will slice the sheet into even tiles.

How do I download all sprites at once?

After detection, click Download All as ZIP. You'll get a single ZIP file containing every sprite as an individual PNG, named sprite-001.png, sprite-002.png, and so on.

Are my sprite sheets uploaded to a server?

No. Everything runs entirely in your browser. Your images never leave your device.
